So marketing communication in the 21st century
It’s weird.... it’s actually not weird, to says it’s weird is lazy narrative. Lazy speak is common as shit today. In everyday life and in conversations about marketing with marketing people
‘Marketing people’ are like any other kind of people- there are different types, personas, characters. Many of them are quite nice, many of them are as pretentious as fuck
recently I spent probably about half an hour explaining what I’d like to do for a particular brand I’m involved with
It’s a good brand, but it’s not bigtime, it’s not coke or durex but it could be pretty cool
Marketing people often say the same things. The same type of things. There’s a language, a dictionary of jargon
The best book on marketing I ever read was a piss-take book called ‘Bluff your way in Marketing ‘ - it was bang on, really helpful, back in the day it helped be blag a few meetings with jargon
I've never been a major league marketing johnny, but I've spent some money over the years. To be asked if i could stretch to paying 5 grand a month for social media reminded me why I often don't like some of the circles I've had to move in.
5 grand. per month. English pounds. For something most of us can do fairly easily in the 21st century.
Granted it would take some time, effort & thought. but seriously? and then there's the strategy question. What's your social media strategy? Your objectives, your plan. Erm, let me think...
I have jargon ingrained to answer such shit questions, i also have the remnants of a social conscience.
there are people living on the streets. fuck social media.
